BIOS ERROR CODES

BIOS stand for Basic Input Output System. It is the first test that checks the computer system before the startup. If some error occurs during the booting process, BIOS indicated it in the form of codes. The following are BIOS Error Codes that can occur in a computer system. These codes vary with manufacturer. As a lot of manufacturers are making BIOS, so they use their customized codes.

The following are BIOS Beep Codes for AWARD that may occur.

Indication of a video error .No additional information can be displayed because BIOS cannot initialize the video screen.
Other beep(s) Problem in the Random Access Memory (RAM).

BIOS CODES (IBM)
The following are IBM BIOS Beep Codes that can occur.

No Beeps Card is loose or no Power or it is Short.
1 Short Beep POST process is OK
2 Short Beep Error in the post process
Continuous Beep Card is loose or no Power or it is Short.
Repeating Short Beep Card is loose or no Power or it is Short.
1 Long & 1 Short Beep Error in the motherboard
1 Long & 2 short Beeps Video problem, Problem in the VGA
1 Long and 3 Short Beeps. Display problem
Three Long Beeps Keyboard error.
One Beep, Blank or Incorrect Display Video Display Problem.

BIOS Beep Codes (Phoenix)

Beep Code

Description

1-1-3 Replace motherboard. Cannot read configuration from the BIOS.
1-1-4 Replace the BIOS
1-2-1 Bad timer problem. Replace the motherboard.
1-2-2 Motherboard is out of order.
1-2-3 Motherboard is out of order.
1-3-1 Replace the motherboard.
1-3-3 Replace the motherboard.
1-3-4 Replace the motherboard.
1-4-2 Part of the memory is bad.
3-1-_ One or more chips on the motherboard are damaged.
3-2-4 Motherboard part that checks for keyboard is damaged.
3-3-4 Video card not detected or inserted properly.
3-4-_ Video card out of order.
4-2-1 Chip on the motherboard is bad. So replace the motherboard.
4-2-2 Keyboard problem.
4-2-4 One of the cards inserted on the motherboard is damaged.
